Overview
They are systems that allow liquids with a density higher than water to be removed from water based on the principle of precipitation by gravity. As a result of this system, easy-to-process treatment sludge is obtained.
Rectangular fin settling tanks are used due to the high wastewater flow rate. Since the surface area is purified by means of plates or modular tubes in these tanks, the sedimentation efficiency is higher and the tank occupies less space.
In order to prevent clogging between the plates, the inclination of the plates should be approximately 60° and the distance between the plates should be 50-60 mm. All flow conditions must be met to ensure a stable flow of particles through the plates towards the bottom. For the lamella settling tank, the residence time is chosen so that a particle entering from the end edge of the plate has sufficient time to reach the sludge zone.
